For most people that haven’t yet hiked through national parks and rafted down legendary rivers, the challenge can seem daunting and the research exhausting, but Moab Adventure Center has a package to remedy that problem.
The Salt Lake City-based company offers an introductory package full of adventure, vistas and experiences while handling all of the logistics and hassle that comes with planning a trip so worthwhile. Tickets—$685 for guests 16 and up and 590 for kids aged 5 to 15—are selling out fast and sales are up 40 percent from this time last year. The package is only offered between May and August.
So, what does the package include? First, you will spend two nights at the Gonzo Inn in Moab, which is close to the downtown area full of restaurants and bars. The day after checking in you will meet early in the morning to receive a tour of the gorgeous Arches National Park, which is followed by a bistro lunch. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that you should pack some comfortable hiking sandals or boots—don’t forget sunscreen and plenty of water. The package also includes a safari at sunset while riding inside a customized Hummer. Finally, you will raft down the Colorado River for a two day trip with overnight camping at Castle Valley with all meals provided—rafting and camping equipment will also be provided. The Colorado River waters are at their most powerful between the months of May and June, but the rapids are rated class I-II—traditional rapids scale is from I-V.
“Families can be so over-scheduled today that carving out time together can be a challenge. Our Southwest Sampler fits into what people are looking for: short breaks, a variety of outdoor adventure – but not too strenuous – and pampering,” said Manager of the Moab Adventure Center, Cort Wright.
Some might wonder if they could do this themselves without a guide and the answer is yes, but they pack all of the adventure within four days and take care of all the planning. For four nights you get to raft, hike, camp and go off-roading in one of the most awe-inducing places in America. Interested parties can visit the website and book a trip and have some adventure in the beehive state.
